Tomorrow, we will at the Board of Supervisors for their historic vote. That's when Los Angeles County will decide whether to move its sheriffs in direction of Arizona or whether they will protect our communities from racial profiling and deportation. 72 Sheriffs and Police participate in a dangerous experiment to have local cops enforce federal immigration law. The program is called 287g, and it makes the police into the migra and deepens distrust, diverts scarce resources, and divides our communities. The program's most notorious supporter is Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona. Los Angeles' 287g agreement is up for renewal, and the stakes are high for our community. The criminalization of immigrants spreading everywhere, but we can stop it here in LA. Send the Board a message today saying "No ICE in the neighborhood. No Arizona in LA" at http://bit.ly/lapetitions and Join us to rally at the Board for their vote tomorrow. Noon, 12 October 2010. Board meeting starts at 1pm. Rally at 500 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, in front of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration/Board of Supervisors (located across from the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, between Grand Ave and Hill St) Los Angeles stood up against the Arizona laws this summer but is about to continue down a similar road tomorrow. Together, we can turn the tide. sign the petition at http://bit.ly/lapetitions and we'll see you tomorrow at noon. thanks, Pablo Alvarado, NDLON.
