An urgent meeting is being called for this coming Monday, November 22 at 7:00 P.M. in Encino to discuss humane solutions in order to avoid a large population of pigeons in Van Nuys from being destroyed because their drops are falling on top of cars parked at a business parking lot in Van Nuys. Since I cannot do it alone, I urgently need the extra help of environmental, and/or animal rights conscious activists to defend hundreds of feral pigeons from being exterminated by a corporate business group who just bought an open business complex in Van Nuys. I am talking about a huge population of pigeons who have been in the area for many years and right now they are facing a horrible threat if not action is taken to defend their right to live, to eat and to drink water . Remember that under any California law the pigeons like squirrels have not rights to live, hence is okay whatever thing someone does to these animals to kill them. It is absolutely ridiculous for a state or person to determine or decide who have rights to live in this earth. The first thing that this business people did was to place on the top of this complex’s buildings metal needles, considering if not work as a second step to activate the electric wires with high volts where they are now to electrocute them, otherwise the pigeonscould also be poisoned. By putting these metal needles the birds who usually stood on top of the edge of these buildings they were displaced from there and pushed now to be on top of the electric wires making the situation worse for rhe enviroment and for the pigeons that are now under an imminent threat because of their drops. On November 17, 2010 I was able to hold a conversation with the owner of this business group and I gave him another solution to avoid the pigeons’ drops falling on top of the clients’ cars which is their concern when their clients park the cars on the parking lot, and he agreed and gave me the green light to work on the project. This person or business owner apparently agreed to cede to the pigeons a space located at one corner of the parking lot which is empty and encircled by a metal gate so that a pigeon house can be built there with rooms. This way the pigeons will concentrate there where would be fed and watered and the rest of the whole business area would be kept clear of them. IDEAS TO BRING TO THE MEETING ARE APPRECIATED: Such as designing environmentally green a pigeon-house as well as how to avoid the drops of the pigeons falling on top of the cars that are at the parking lot since they were displaced and pushed now to stand on the electric wires as a result of the needles the business put on top of the buildings. Maybe an enviromental artist could design a metal or plastic net like a vertical tray to be put underneath the electric wires held from one pole to another, and through donations we can keep those services that so-called “trim ( kill) trees,” to clean the nets once a month. This way the poops can also be recycled for agricultural compost. In the mean time is important to make many calls to this business man (Mikey Dardashti) in order to tell him that a solution is on its way to keep the birds away from polluting the business area with their drops. We must tell him not to hurt the birds with any kind of inhumane means such as metal needles on top of the building which are already killing and injuring the birds, and/or poisoning them.
