Human Rights Day 2010:/Dia de Derechos Humanos 2010:

Every Immigrant Worker has Human Rights!

¡Todo Trabajador Inmigrante tiene Derechos Humanos!

On Friday December 10, 2010 local community activist in the Los Angeles area
will gather at MacArthur Park to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the
signing of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

This year has seen a rise in the assault on immigrant communities whose Human
Rights have yet to be fully recognized as stated in the Declaration of Human
Rights.

Whether as the targets of increased enforcement measure like 287(g) or the
Secure Communities program, many immigrant are facing greater repression than
ever. This is especially true for the Westlake/MacArthur Park area of Los
Angeles , where the police killing of the undocumented immigrant Manuel Jamines
Zum set off a wave of protests throughout the community. Justice has still not
been achieved for Jamines and the status of the investigation into his death
has been relegated to the shadows of the police administration. Speakers will
voice a broad range of human rights concerns related to Housing Equal Rights,
Enforcement and Repression. ON December 10 we say that Every Immigrant worker
has Human Rights.
