The two-day trial took place in Havana last Dec. 27-28; it will be the subject of a special program to be shown "soon" on national television. Posada's trial for immigration irregularities is scheduled to begin in El Paso on Monday, Jan. 10. *Cubadebate on Saturday disclosed that Chávez traveled to Cuba in 1997 carrying plastic explosives under the insole of his shoes. "And who bought you those shoes?" a judge asked. "Posada," Chávez answered, according to Cubadebate.* The website also says that, according to Chávez's testimony, Posada concealed, "with his own hands," a plastic explosive in a television set taken into Cuba by another hired bomber, Raúl Ernesto Cruz León. That charge, when detonated at the Copacabana Hotel, killed an Italian tourist on Feb. 4, 1997, the article says. *Another article in Cubadebate** contains a video clip *<http://razonesdecuba.cubadebate.cu/articulos/francisco-chavez-abarca-posada-me-recluto-y-me-ayudo-a-disimular-explosivos/> *in which Chávez says he and Posada attended a meeting in San Salvador with several anti-Castro activists from the United States: Francisco José Hernández Calvo, head of the Cuban American National Foundation; Arnaldo Monzón Plasencia, a CANF leader from New Jersey; Guillermo Novo Sampoll, and Pedro Remón Crispín.* The video clip does not mention the purpose of that meeting.
