The South Central Farmers' Cooperative operations are moving out of the South
Central Farm Community Center in South Central, Los Angeles which leaves the
center unoccupied but with space for new creativity, which is why the South
Central Farmers along with the SCF Community Centro Collective, a collective
compose of members from the SCF Support Committee, L.A. Brown Berets Atonomous
Chapter, RaiseThe Fist and comunity members are working on creating a cultural
autonomous space with the community. The South Central Farm Community Center
purpose will be to enhance culture and inspire art as well as remaining true to
the principles of the South Central Farm struggle. On Saturday, February 19th
the South Central Farm Collective will be opening the doors to the South
Central Farm Community Center.

The South Central Farm operated from 1992 ‘till 2006 feeding about 350 families
in South Central, Los Angeles each year. In 2006 the farmers were evicted from
the land after a long struggle with the developer and politicians. Since then
the farmers have remain in the struggle in order to provide affordable organic
produce to the greater Los Angeles area. As the demand for organic affordable
food in Los Angeles increases so does the South Central Farm Cooperative. Now
the South Central Farm Cooperative is moving out of the South Central Farm
Community Center to their new location in Eagle Rock a much bigger place that
will allow the Cooperative to work more efficiently.
