Dear Romi,
Grand Canyon National Park is at risk of becoming a noisier place. Senators
John McCain (R-AZ), Jon Kyl (R-AZ), and John Ensign (R-NV) have filed an
amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Bill
that would allow for more noisy low-flying air tours over the park.
Since the FAA bill may be wrapped up today, it is urgent that you contact your
senators immediately!
The amendment comes just as the National Park Service has released a
long-awaited draft overflight plan, which asks the public to comment on the
park's future.
Last year, with your help, NPCA and our allies were able to force the
withdrawal of a similar amendment. We need your help TODAY to ensure that this
amendment is once again defeated.
Take Action Now: Tell your senators to oppose this amendment and support the
ability of the public to comment on the future management of air tours over the
park. We need park lovers like you to speak up now.
Thank you for adding your voice to ensure the protection of one of our most
beloved national parks!
