This March, it’s time to hit the streets with fliers, petitions, signs and
protests! Let’s use this anniversary of the Iraq invasion to launch a new
decade of resistance to US Empire. As the people of Egypt and Wisconsin
have shown us, it is no one person, no single action, but the overwhelming
will and courage of good people demanding freedom, dignity, respect. When
ballots fail us, it is time to vote with our feet!

Together we can create the future we want.

We are living in incredible times from massive popular revolutions in
Tunisia, Egypt to growing democracy movements in Wisconsin battle lines for
our
future are being drawn. The uprising is spreading to other nations and
states!

Is it any wonder that our hope is growing despite the devastation around
us? We in the anti-war movement have worked hard to stop the killing -
millions dead, trillions spent, hundreds of thousands wounded and maimed yet
the world is no more secure - we know that the military budget and wars are
destroying the fabric of this country.

The money exists, but US corporations – the war profiteers, energy,
private security companies and the intelligence sector that together comprise
the
military/industrial/security complex are not solving terrorism or war.
War makes them money killing people and robbing our communities of billions
of dollars.

For the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the nightmare continues.
While the media treats Iraq as a “problem solved” that deserves no
further attention, the situation on the ground for Iraqis grows more desperate
and dangerous by the day. For Iraqis, the Iraq War is not over. Iraqi
security forces, aided and abetted by the U.S. military, have escalated their
repression of movements for workers and women’s rights, protests over lack
of electricity and other requirements for a decent life like clean water,
continuing unemployment and cuts in already meager social benefits. In just
the last few months, union offices have been raided and shut down, workers
in protest demonstrations have been assaulted, shot at and killed, the
satellite TV station of the Iraq Freedom Congress was raided and all its
equipment destroyed, and rallies of unemployed workers have been broken up.

In Afghanistan and Pakistan, drone strikes continue to kill innocent
civilians, U.S. military operations continue to terrorize and brutalize the
population, government corruptions goes unchecked, war profiteers continue to
steal billions of dollars, and the Taliban enjoys growing support.

Despite our work and the election of a Democratic President civil
liberties are still under attack, the criminalization of dissent continues,
Guantanamo continues, our communities are being militarized while millions of
people, including tens of thousands of veterans are losing their homes to
foreclosures, go without healthcare, are denied education or are encumbered
with lifelong crushing debt. Budgets for education, healthcare, women issues,
pensions and public services are being slashed while the tax write off for
the rich and corporations have stolen billions of dollars badly needed for
basic human needs.

See you in the streets!
