Monday, I posted an article about the takeover of the Elderly Meals Program on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota by a group calling itself part of AIM, and yesterday, I received the following email about that story, which I have permission from the author to pass on to you. Romi

Many of us seen Duane Martin doing his so-called warrior society actions, usually we feel he must need more child support monies, since he is usually wanted for not paying child support, ( Dead beat dad) He may be listed under the online Pennington County Sherifs warrants section . We have seen James Swan inject himself into the scene, he was a saleman for that Reich wing Neo-con newspaper Indian Country Today, thus a way to promote himself and his cronies. He made public statements denouncing AIM, yet he shows up for a photo op, and writes on his facebook page that he has to work and can't be there at the protest. again he shows pictures wearing his aim colors, perhaps it is time for some of our young "warrior women go and recover Our AIM flag from these phonies, they only use it for their own personal photo ops to put out on facebook and twitter to further that scam of asking for donations. we agree that there are due process procedures with in the Porcupine community and with in the OST as well, when ever we see Duane's grandma involved, we always feel he is using her and other unsuspecting Elders. There is a great big difference of going against out side non-Indian forces as opposed to going against your own Lakota People. many of those involved with Duane don't have very decent reputations, let alone being aim. many of Our " warriors over here in Sicangu Lakota country" don't think very much of Duane,( especially those, who are with Lakota or native women) we seen him hooking up with white women, even Russ shared with us about how he ended up leaving Duane and a transgender person( dude/gal ) named Naomi Archer in Washington,DC,( cause of hanky panky) you fill in the gross blanks. BTW She/he is also a member of Duanes Strong Hearts. The accusations against 72 yr old Winnifred White Face Janis are coming from her elderly cousins Lorraine White Face Eagle Elk, Elizabeth Young Bear, Myrna White Face Young Bear. A non member of the community, Duane Martin, steps in with his online friends and they begin to get involved in this community level dispute, using AIM and Warrior Societies. AIM Grand Governing Council Co Chair Keith Lussier called me on Saturday and assured me that AIMGGC does not wish to get involved in a dispute between elderly women. Clyde Bellecourt called me earlier to investigate the Accusations. Clyde Bellecourt tells me that there are young men in Duane Martins Warrior Societies who are carrying guns. Clyde and I both agreed that the behavior is not what a warrior is supposed to be: carrying guns against an Elderly woman and her daughter. 1st, the occupiers were yelling about tribal corruption and that tribal council didn't stand behind them. So, in response, tribal council representatives including President John Yellow bird Steele, began to visit them on a daily basis. They still continue online accusations against the OST Administration and tribal Police. We are being told that at Tuesday nights meeting (3/8/11) Duane Martin swung a fist at Porcupine Council rep Scott Weston almost striking Weston. Next, the occupiers accused Geneva Quiver, the cook of serving undercooked meals which may have been corrected if the health department were aware of it. The Oglala Sioux health department made visits every month, under Karen Red Star. There was no complaint. Then, occupiers made allegations of elderly abuse against a 72 yr old woman they say threatened them. (Winnifred) Which there are no police reports of such activity. However, Police reports and Court orders are on file which point to the Occupiers/instigators, who made threats against TANF (temporary assistance to needy families "welfare reform") workers and the cook herself. Lorraine White Face Eagle Elk is on file saying she killed a man "and can kill again." Duane Martin already carries a gun. Elizabeth Young Bear testified against AIM member Dennis Bear Runner in an Assault trial in the 90s. Myrna White Face is widow of Severt Young Bear Sr., and is in a land dispute with Severt's sons, according to them. Severt Jr is friends with Winnifred's sons. There is clear and present danger against Winnifred and her Daughter Geneva. Geneva, as a tribal employee, deserves to be protected by the tribe, yet she is stressed out and nearly depressed because the tribe will not support/defend her. She is currently seeking counseling. 72 yr old Winnifred is in even more critical condition yet there are no elderly abuse charges against the occupiers who are clearly abusing her online (psychological abuse) and slandering her causing her to become stressed and unhealthy. She has a lot of younger relatives and if action is not taken by the tribe, the community members may take it mean they are the ones to defend Winnifred and other elderly who do not support Winnifred's cousins/occupiers. It is obvious they don't support Duane Martin at all. The warrior societies are not real societies, nor approved by Headsmen of Porcupine or any other village. I was told by Alfred Bone shirt that the "Strong heart Warrior Society" originates with a family in Rosebud, whom he is related to. They don't know how Duane Martin took the name for himself. The Rapid City warrior society is not recognized by AIM members in Rapid or on the Pine Ridge Rez. True Brings White told uncle Edgar Bear Runner that he did not know who this James Swan is. Uncle Clyde Bellecourt said that he knows that James Swan disassociated himself with AIM after the John Graham Trial. A clock may be ticking but I am not aware of it yet. There is more to this story than just false accusations by the occupiers. Meanwhile Winnifred and Geneva remain voiceless. I seen your post on CLG, I have been a Activist here, plus I am a full blood member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, which is located east of the Pine Ridge Indian reservation. in South Central South Dakota. We know Duane Martin as well as his grand mother who seems to be part of the center of the controversy there, We got a call from a source from Porcupine,S.D. last night who was there in that Elder center and witnessed that Duane's Grand mother who is Cecilia Martin and wheel Chair bound had messed on herself and those there let her be that way with out cleaning her up. And another one of the elder women was tired of sleeping on the floor and was complaining of back pain,, something like they didn't want to be there any more. No one is looking at the many Elderly Indian people who are currently being disenfranchised by Duane Martin and his phony " warrior society" who live there in the Porcupine Community and relie on meals from that center, We were told that those who are there broke into the freezer where the food belong to those Indian Elders and were using it for their own consumption.
