Students Tour California on an Energy Alternative
Spring Break Trip for Energy Efficiency

WHAT:

50 CALPIRG students and AmeriCorps volunteers
will descend to the Barrio Youth and Family
Center in Los Angeles as part of their Energy
Alternative Spring Break Service Trip. Energy
Service Corps is a new program in California to
train hundreds of students from all across the
state to help their communities reduce energy
use. Energy Service Corps is a joint
program between the statewide public interest
group CALPIRG (California Public Interest
Research Group Foundation) and AmeriCorps. At the
event, they will perform an energy upgrade of the
Barrio Youth and Family Center, an organization
that focuses on the needs of the community. The
event is just one example of the many service and
education projects the student-based group has
planned to reduce energy use and save Californians money on utility bills.
