*March 20, 2011 .- A number of social organizations, unions and individuals,
overwhelmingly reject Obama's visit to Chile, scheduled for this March 21.
*Call to protest against the
imperialist and neo-liberal model and convert U.S. visit Mr. Obama in a
national day of mobilization against imperialism.
Below you can read the statement.
**
* *
*The undersigned declare:*
* With the advance of leftist governments and the awakening of the peoples
of our great homeland for over 200 years, America is reset and as Mr. Obama
said last month, his trip to Chile is "to forge new partnerships for
progress in America, as in the early sixties Doing so his party comrade John
F. Kennedy, who made the "Alliance for Progress", in order to stop the
advance of socialism in the people of Our America, after the Cuban
Revolution.*
It is clear that U.S. actions facing the world have not been stable, and
further its imperialist policy, has deepened dramatically. Mr. Obama
appeared before the world as a man of "change", but it has been conclusively
shown that only continuation of a policy clearly belligerent and
imperialist.
Such statements are checked to see any compliance with the promises made in
the field, such as ending the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. As well as
blatant occupation military forces did in Haiti after the country suffered
the ravages of nature in January 2010.
That is why, the Union of the Peoples Bicentennial (Chilean Chapter) is
organizing against this visit that seeks to give the permission of the
capitalist model introduced in Chilean military dictatorship, but perfected
in the 20 years of government consultation.
We reaffirm our position against the American empire and fight for:
- The term of the interference in the affairs of sovereign peoples, by the
U.S. (Read, The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador,
Nicaragua, and all progressive states. A clear example of this
interventionist is the criminal blockade that the U.S. government still
holds against the Republic of Cuba, as well as the arbitrary process who
suffered the five Cuban heroes, who are still prisoners in the jails of
Miami.).
- The return of territorial enclaves, such as: Puerto Rico, Las Malvinas
(U.S. disregard of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance, TIAR)
and South Georgia.
- The closure of military bases that the U.S. maintains in various parts of
the continent as enclaves and spearheads its interventionist policy, in
partnership with governments and reactionary oligarchy.
- The end of military, financial and logistical support that gives the
criminal empire Colombian Government lackey regime that meets the sad role
of the "Israel of South America."
- An end to U.S. interventionism and NATO in Egypt, Libya and other Middle
Eastern countries. Under the pretext of mediate these forces only aspire to
consolidate its influence in this important oil region. The people of these
countries should decide their fate based on the principle of
self-determination of peoples.
Mr. Obama seeks to visit our country, to revive the moribund idea of a new
"alliance for progress", which is a formula for renewed American
imperialism, to try to curb the free and self-determined development of the
brotherly peoples of Latin America and the struggles and insurgents who
threaten their interests. Its objectives on this visit are nothing more than
neo-liberalism, more hunger, more misery and time, transform Chile into a
silver bridge for alliances against nations that really move towards
freedom, towards true democracy, towards the socialism of the century XXI.
Given these facts, we summon the political and social organizations: we must
unite and scream out loud rejection of the visit of Mr. Obama, and the
policies you want to promote (in addition to those already driving the U.S.
decades ago) to desenyugar the human being and a decent living and fair,
without exploitation and misery. While a few sleep in treasury created by
greed, millions of the most humble, every day waiting for the rising
struggle to create a new company, to be masters of our destiny without
foreign interference.
* **Against Mr Obama's visit to Chile!*
* **To make the visit of Mr. Obama in a national day of anti-imperialist
movement!** *
*We call on all organizations and social and political forces of Our America
and the world to protest against the imposition of the neoliberal model and
Yankee imperialism!*
