The inhabitants of Douar Lkoucha, a poor district of Taza, defended a sit-in organized by unemployed young people with a university degree that had been violently dispersed and confronted the city police. Police forces were already alert: Taza is considered a "difficult" spot, due to its geographical isolation. According to Demain online, Taza is the city where slogans against the monarchy were at their harshest among the large demonstrations which took place on February 20th, 2011. A video on yesterday's clashes was published on the website ; it shows to what extent some portions of the Moroccan people hate the monarchy. Slogans of unparalleled violence can be heard, such as "Abdelilah Benkirane (the current Prime Minister, Ed), you will die and burn like this car, together with Emperor Mohamed VI. You will be killed by fire, and the people's revolution will rise again". Some young people shout that they want "some lead" (they mean that they are not afraid). According to the website, the United States and France in particular (France has been the King's first "advisor" since the beginning of the Arab uprisings) strongly recommended Moroccan authorities to refrain from using firearms against demonstrators. According to local sources, approximately twenty people were injured during the clashes and some police vehicles were set to fire. *(ANSAmed).
