Dear friends, The Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle calls upon all of our friends and allies to join us next week for critically important actions in support of Lynne Stewart, including an overnight vigil at Thomas Paine Park/Foley Square Park in Lower Manhattan starting at 6 PM on Tuesday February 28, followed by a presence inside and outside of the courtroom at 500 Pearl Street from 8 AM onward on Wednesday February 29. For those who can't stay overnight, your presence is still very much appreciated Tuesday evening and especially from 8 AM onward on Wednesday. Tues., Feb. 28, from 6 PM to Wed., Feb. 29 at 5 PM at Tom Paine Park (Foley Square Park), just beside the Federal Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in lower Manhattan: We will have a rally and OCCUPY the park. Come with your banners, drums, poems, prayers, songs, raps, shouts. Stay overnight in the park to let the government know that we dissent from the use of incarceration as a tool of political terror. Wed., Feb. 29, at 8 AM at the Federal Courthouse, 500 Pearl Street in lower Manhattan: the beginning of Lynne's appeal (hearing scheduled for 9 AM, but arrive early to get into the courtroom). Come and RALLY in support of Lynne and ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS. Let's let them know that the 99% are unambiguously opposed to the state terror that political incarceration represents! Why: "People's lawyer" Lynne Stewart is a human rights attorney and tireless activist who has been targeted by the US government as part of a crackdown on lawyers seeking to defend the rights of oppressed people and a broader crackdown on social justice leaders. This attack on Lynne is an attack on all of us and all of our movements. Anyone among us could be next if we don't fight back. Lynne is in her 70s with serious health problems and has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a blatant miscarriage of justice. Lynne's case is now being appealed, and Wednesday, February 29 is an important court date for her appeal in the Second Circuit Federal Appeals Court. We need to show that there is a public outcry for Lynne's freedom.
