For the past week Change Links has had major computer problems Sorry this is rather long.
Over a month ago our Dell Laptop bit the dust, (about 9 years old) wouldn't boot. I tried everything the things I know without luck. I finally gave it to Clay Claiborne, took him a few weeks but he fixed it. But then our main computer went down. It too was a Dell, a fairly expensive computer, a little over 3 years old. I did pay for an extra warranty which still covered it. Called Dell tech support. First went through 3 different ones. All they did was run it through their scripts, which I knew wouldn't help. Found out they had installed Raid 0 on it, which makes in run faster. This is usually meant for large systems, not home computers.Turns out that if a Windows file gets corrupted, it effects all drives and there is basically nothing you can to. except install Raid 1, problem is that erases all files on your computer. And Dell of course doesn't try and fix Raid problems. All they said, after some real bad and wrong advise.is to take it to a Raid shop and pay over $300. I told Dell since it was their fault they should reimburse me. One manager told me they would reimburse if I sent an invoice. but now they can find that advise anywhere. I call again and again and reached another manager and again he promised I would be reimbursed, took my phone number but haven't heard anything yet. Turns out the only Phone Numbers I can find to either to sales or Tech support which mostly in India I think. Phones lines can be so bad you cant understand anyone. Once again I gave to Clay and hope he can fix it. Yahoo groups Im on about 12 Yahoo groups and Moderate 2. I cannot access this, Yahoo saying its the wrong password It should be okay, but trying to get it fixed has been impossible. Funding is still way way to slow. Many who have subscribed for years are not uping their subscription. Though we distribute 12,000 copies around the greater LA area, not many new subscriptions or donations One would think progessives would want to keep one of only progressive newspaper alive but so far that dosent seem to be happening.
