It was a small but spirited group. But oh so necessary. Bunchie Carter<https://www.google.com/search?q=Bunchie+Carter&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a>said "Do something! Do something...if you just spit." This was our hawk-too-ee.
Vaguely haunting and harkening back to the days against the real (and still) government of S Africa: the wealthy there, now pulling the strings on the ANC's puppets dancing "Black Skins in White Masks<https://www.google.com/search?q=fanon+white+skins&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a>". And the ANC itself is just another in the long line of the failure of national liberationists to pass beyond merely overthrowing colonialists while not going beyond the idea of replacing them. Replacing them in their oath of fealty, and 'fiscalty', supplicating before their masters, the owners of the mines, the 'megafarms' and the industries. This murder encapsulated the whole of the workers' struggle everywhere. And at all times: What ever it takes to break a strike, the state will use it when it deems it necessary. The militant strike of the platinum workers was met with murder. Had to be met with murder. Workers taking up (hopelessly out-gunned) weapons to defend themselves will be and was met with superior overwhelming deadly force. As in the (lesser veiled) conventional war such a defeat ought prompt a change in tactics: from pursuing face-to-face confrontation to guerrilla tactics: They haven't defeated us, they only won the first round. We must fight smarter and, in doing so, we will fight more dangerously. Injure the real assassins, the bourgeois owners, by disrupting production. The only pain that these people feel is a kick in their ass...pocket containing their wallets. Yet, comrades, this battle will not be won only by the mines workers. Cannot be won only by the mines workers. Can only be won by *the*workers. All workers. And to win their support, the miners must want for them what they want for themselves, a human and humane living. Of course, when we get such a thing it will only have been won by us having taken control of that which our work produces but which in turn rule over us: the means of making a living, the means (and also control over the methods) of production. This we must have. Or else we will have what we have: nothing. It is capitalism that is the enemy. Whether "Black Skins" or White Masks", the policing forces are their last line of defense. At this stage, Public Opinion, is their first. They have saturated with dollars vile propaganda through the airwaves that has snookered what passes for the American working class into a rage about--only thinly veiled--race. When they say "smaller government" the translation--in large part-- is "No to the Niggers": No jobs, no benefits because there are no jobs, no...NOTHING. As Latinos and many Immigrants are in the process of being transformed into "New Niggers" that same "No" is meant as much for us as it is for us. (SIC) Now, even poor white marginalized workers hear the same "No" but reading (not far) between the lines that the vindective that is being hurled at their darker brethren are tempted by the racial subtext--of what passes for-- American political economic discourse and, incongruously, vote with billionaires and act (Some of them poor crackers will kill you) against their own interests. This is the upside-down world that we inhabit where right is "Right" and "Left" is wrong. Where the rich need tax breaks and the poor don't need unemployment benefits. Where when people are out of jobs and hence can buy no more, they are turned out like strays into the streets but unlike dogs, there are no kennels and there is no SPCH. Where what we can do is work and we are denied that for the insane reason that the owners cannot make a profit. Cannot make a profit but *could* make a product. Cannot pay a salary but can spend tens of millions poisoning people's minds. Do not pay taxes* but use the money they tax from us to build our own cells. Up...side...down. "Capitalism is good." "Socialism is evil." Brave New World. 1984. New-speak double-speak. The "Big Lie". Told often enough...it becomes the 'truth'. JAI RAC-LA * If taxes are paid by the wealthy then it is with a check written in ink that is equal parts the blood, the sweat and the tears of workers whose unpaid labor they force into the contract that is the wage-'bargain'.
