You built that. Posted by Lori Price, _www.legitgov.org_ (http://www.legitgov.org/) 26 Sep 2012 Flashback: The US was fine with Iran building nuclear power plants, when a torturing, terrorist regime controlled them. At the request of the Iraqi government [?], according to General Caslen, a unit of Army Special Operations soldiers was recently deployed to Iraq to advise on counterterrorism and help with intelligence. [LOL, you have to scroll down *15 paragraphs* to get to this nugget, as the New York Times buried the salient point -- as usual.] _US Special Forces Deployed in Iraq, Again_ (http://www.thenation.com/article/170158/us-special-forces-deployed-iraq-again) 25 Sep 2012 Despite the official US military withdrawal last December, American special forces "recently" returned to Iraq on a counter-terrorism mission, according to an American general in charge of weapons sales there. The mission was _reported_ (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/25/world/middleeast/iraq-faces-new-perils-from -syrias-civil-war.html) by the New York Times, in the fifteenth paragraph [LOL!] of a story about deepening sectarian divides. The irony is that the US is protecting a pro-Iran Shiite regime in Baghdad against a Sunni-based insurgency while at the same time supporting a Sunni-led movement against the Iran-backed dictatorship in Syria. _America's deadly double-tap drone attacks are 'killing 49 people for every known terrorist in Pakistan'_ (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2208307/Americas-deadly-double-tap-drone-attacks-killing-49-people-known-terror ist-Pakistan.html) 25 Sep 2012 Just one in 50 victims of America's deadly drone strikes in Pakistan are terrorists - while the rest are innocent civilians, a new report claimed today. The authoritative joint study, by Stanford and New York Universities, concludes that men, women and children are being terrorised by the operations '24 hours-a-day'. And the authors lay much of the blame on the use of the 'double-tap' strike where a drone fires one missile - and then a second as rescuers try to drag victims from the rubble. One aid agency said they had a six-hour delay before going to the scene. _US Marines face courts martial over urinating on three bloodied corpses_ (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/afghanistan/9564032/US-Marine s-face-courts-martial-over-Taliban-urination-video.html) --Marines also charged with dereliction of duty for number of other command failures 24 Sep 2012 Two US Marines will face trial by courts martial for urinating on the bodies of dead Taliban fighters in Afghanistan and posing for photographs with them. The charges against Staff Sergeants Joseph Chamblin and Edward Deptola come a month after three other Marines were sanctioned administratively for their role in the July 27, 2011 incident in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. A videotape that surfaced on the internet in January showed four US troops urinating on three bloodied corpses, and one of the men, apparently aware he was being filmed, saying: "Have a great day, buddy," to one of the dead. They hate us because we're sociopaths.] _Obama uses UN speech to threaten war against Iran_ (http://www.wsws.org/articles/2012/sep2012/obam-s26.shtml) 26 Sep 2012 President Barack Obama postured before the United Nations Tuesday as the champion of peace and democracy, while threatening war against Iran and demanding a crackdown against the wave of anti-US demonstrations that have swept the Middle East...Obama declared these events "an assault on the very ideals upon which the United Nations was founded—the notion that people can resolve their differences peacefully; that diplomacy can take the place of war"...What insolence! After a decade of US wars that have claimed the lives of over a million Iraqis and Afghans, the US president is the last person to lecture the people of the Middle East on how to "resolve their differences peacefully" and the advantages of diplomacy over war. _Iran test-flies latest UAV_ (http://www.legitgov.org/Iran-test-flies-latest-UAV) 26 Sep 2012 The latest domestically manufactured long-range unmanned aerial vehicle, named the Shahed 129 (Observer 129), has become operational, according to the commander of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh told reporters on Monday that the Shahed 129 UAV has a range of 1700-2000 kilometers and is capable of flying nonstop for 24 hours. He also said that the UAV is capable of carrying out reconnaissance and combat missions and can be equipped with bombs and missiles. _Iran sends toy drone to Obama_ (http://www.reuters.com/video/2012/01/29/iran-sends-toy-drone-to-obama?videoId=229298368) 29 Jan 2012 Iran is sending a U.S. drone it captured in December home - with a small makeover. Mocking requests to return the drone, a local toy company plans to send a miniature pink model of the RQ-170 Sentinel to U.S. President Barack Obama. (Soundbite) (Farsi) HEAD OF CULTURAL DEPARTMENT OF 'AAYE' COMPANY, SEYYED SAEED HASSAN-POUR, saying: "We wanted for Mr. Obama himself to have these toys and know that Iranians don't leave anyone's requests unanswered. We made the 'RQ' in pink as it is Mr. Obama's favourite colour and we will send it to him via the Swiss embassy on Bahman 12 (February 1)." [I want one of those toy drones!] _Removal of MKO from U.S. terrorist list would be violation of intl. commitments: Iran_ (http://www.legitgov.org/Removal-MKO-US-terrorist-list-would-be-violation-intl-commitments-Iran) 26 Sep 2012 Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that reported decision by the United States to remove the Mojahedin Khalq Organization from its list of terrorist groups would be a violation of its international commitments. Mehmanparast made the remarks in reference to a Reuters story published on September 21 that quoted U.S. officials as saying that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had made the decision to remove the MKO from the list and that it was expected to be announced formally in the coming days. _Anti-Terrorism Association Blasts US Support for MKO Terrorist Group_ (http://www.legitgov.org/Anti-Terrorism-Association-Blasts-US-Support-MKO-Terror ist-Group) 24 Sep 2012 The Association for Defending Victims of Terrorism (ADVT) in a letter to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blasted Washington's support for the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO also known as the MEK, PMOI and NCR), and cautioned the US to revise its decision for removing the MKO from its terror list. In its letter addressed to the Secretary of State, the ADVT, a non-governmental, cultural institution whose members are the families and children of terrorism victims, underlined the necessity for the US to pursue a non-political drive and to further study its decision before striking the MKO from the list of its terrorist groups. _Press TV correspondent killed in Syrian capital_ (http://www.legitgov.org/Press-TV-correspondent-killed-Syrian-capital) 26 Sep 2012 [US-backed] Insurgents in the Syrian capital Damascus have attacked Press TV staff, killing the Iranian English-language news network's correspondent Maya Naser, and injuring its Damascus Bureau Chief Hosein Mortada.
