This Election Day, you'll be faced with tough choices about our taxes, our 
schools, and our laws. The ACLU of Southern California's policy experts have 
scrutinized the initiatives that matter most and created this ballot guide with 
ACLU endorsed positions. Print this email and bring it into the polls with you 
to make sure you vote to protect civil liberties.

Prop. 30: YES - Generates $6-9 billion for schools and services
Prop. 31: NO - Shifts checks and balances and erodes state laws that protect 
families and workers
Prop. 32: NO - Discriminates against labor union political speech
Prop. 34: YES - Replaces California's death penalty with life in prison without 
the possibility of parole
Prop. 35: NO - Misleads voters by increasing criminal penalties without 
reducing human trafficking
Prop. 36: YES - Restores the original intent of the Three Strikes law
Prop. 38: Neutral - Increases funding for low-income students
Prop. 39: YES - Closes corporate tax loophole to raise $1 billion each year
Prop. 40: YES - Upholds the State Senate district maps drawn by independent 
commission
