This is the longest-standing eviction defense in the current U.S. foreclosure crisis as far as we know, and it can't end before the house is saved just because the bills aren't paid. The Hernandez family won a court case just last week: in a nearly unprecedented decision, a bankruptcy judge ruled to allow the family to stay in the house after the Bank of New York-Mellon demanded that their two-week stay of the eviction be lifted. Now the Hernandez family, their supporters, and their lawyers want to break the banks' stranglehold on struggling families caught in a web of unclear and fraudulent loans, title transfers, and disinformation to home owners. This can't happen if the activists who've set up tents and lived on the property for nearly four months can't pay the utilities and court costs.
