* It's anecdotal evidence, but it seems that Friday protests in Syria are once again growing larger, after weeks and months of being depressed because of the intensity of the violence. A few examples are posted below, but it's safe to say we've seen hundreds of videos and pictures of today's protests:* One of the strongest protest movements, for now more than 20 months, has been in Kafranbel, in Idlib.*The Guardian* translates one of the posters<http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/middle-east-live/2012/dec/07/egypt-crisis-protests-morsi-defiant-live#block-50c1d171b579d49737370b84> we posted earlier as saying "By beheading al-Assad terrorism will become a disgusting folk tale (thanks, Catmari, for pointing this out)." Yabroud has been punished for months by airstrikes, the Assad military's way of sending a message that despite its defiance it is still vulnerable. That has not deterred the uprising, however: ÓãíÉ@*CovertPolitics_* <https://twitter.com/CovertPolitics_> >From Yabroud, #*Damascus* <https://twitter.com/search/%23Damascus>: "There are many ways to die in#*Syria* <https://twitter.com/search/%23Syria>, but the most important is to die free."pic.twitter.com/pNwCfKgC<http://t.co/pNwCfKgC> <https://twitter.com/CovertPolitics_/statuses/277069406314573824> 7 Dec 12 <https://twitter.com/CovertPolitics_/statuses/277069406314573824> - ***Reply*<https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?in_reply_to=277069406314573824> - ***Retweet*<https://twitter.com/intent/retweet?tweet_id=277069406314573824> - ***Favorite*<https://twitter.com/intent/favorite?tweet_id=277069406314573824> A large protest in the very small town of Lapin, north of Aleppo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GexWP3j_IwY And this protest reportedly took place in Zablatani, a district in eastern Damascus, amidst buildings pock-marked by bullets or shrapnel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_FC4yw_AM_E * The theme of this week's protests appears to translate to "No to peacekeepers, the revolutionaries (the FSA) are the peacekeepers." The message is, according to sources, two-fold - that foreign troops are not needed on the ground in Syria because it is up to the armed wing of the opposition to keep the peace after Assad falls."* http://www.enduringamerica.com/home/2012/12/7/syria-live-coverage-is-this-the-end-for-assad.html [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAAMN: Los Angeles Alternative Media Network --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digest: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help: <mailto:[email protected]?subject=laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive1: <http://www.egroups.com/messages/laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive2: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yahoo!
