Iyad Burnat Speaking at USC Thursday 1/17/13 1:00 PM
Iyad Burnat is the head of the Bil'in Popular Committee and a leader in the
village's non-violent popular resistance movement. Since 2005 citizens of
Bil'in have held weekly demonstrations against the building of the Israeli
annexation/apartheid wall through the community's agricultural lands, and the
steady encroachment of illegal settlements.
Iyad and his family were the subject of the award winning documentary (JUST
NOMINATED FOR OSCAR), "Five Broken Cameras".

3:30 PM - In Front of Annenberg Auditorium
Join Jewish Voice for Peace and BDS LA to say, NO to Israel's occupation of
Palestinian land and ongoing illegal and unjust treatment of Palestinians.
American born Michael Oren, former Israeli Defense Forces soldier who
participated in the wars with Lebanon and is now the Israeli Ambassador & Key
Spokesperson in charge of re-shaping Israel’s image in the United States after
it was condemned for its actions in 2009′s Gaza massacre, and accused of war
crimes and potential crimes against humanity by Justice Richard Goldstone and
has been condemned by more UN Human Rights Council resolutions than any other
country in the world.
In recent years, Michael Oren has been met by demonstrations at most of his US
appearances. We will gather in that tradition.
This event is CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.
Come join us outside to deliver our message to him!
Michael Oren represents the Israeli government, which is responsible for:
* An illegal and unjust occupation that denies the Palestinian people
their right to self-determination.
* Systemic policies denying the Palestinian people in the occupied West
Bank and Gaza and inside Israel their basic civil and human rights.
* Israeli military assaults on Gaza, which disproportionately and
indiscriminately kill Palestinian civilians including women, and children and
repeatedly and extensively damage Gaza’s infrastructure.
* An announced plan to construct 3,000 homes in Area E1 of the West Bank
that will make geographically impossible a contiguous, viable Palestinian state.
