Cuba Tests Internet Traffic via Undersea Cable Escrito por Ileana Ferrer Fonte jueves, 24 de enero de 2013 <http:> [image: Imagen activa]24 de enero de 2013, 10:29 *Havana, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuba announced today that the telecommunications system ALBA-1, linking the Caribbean island with Venezuela and Jamaica through an undersea fiber optics cable, has been operational since August 2012.* *Internet traffic tests on system began on January 10. They use real-time traffic to and from Cuba, to normalize communication. The system initially issues voice traffic for international telephone, states a note from the Cuban Telecommunications Enterprise (ETECSA), released by Granma newspaper. After completing the test, the implementation of the underwater cable does not mean that the possibilities of access automatically increase, the entity states. It will be necessary to build out domestic telecommunications infrastructure and increase foreign exchange resources, aimed at paying for the costs of sending and receiving Internet traffic in order to achieve a gradual growth of the service provided mostly free of charge and with social objectives, the text says.* sc/sa/iff/joe Modificado el ( jueves, 24 de enero de 2013 ) *http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUzD6n4NGV8&feature=player_embedded* [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAAMN: Los Angeles Alternative Media Network --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digest: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help: <mailto:[email protected]?subject=laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive1: <http://www.egroups.com/messages/laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive2: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yahoo!
