My stinking congressman had been an OBSTRETICIAN-GYNECOLOGIST.
He could make his money looking into women's vaginas, but he couldn't lift a
finger to PROTECT them!

Victory: The Violence Against Women Act finally passed Congress. But no thanks
to the 138 Republicans who voted against
it.
The petition reads:
"Shame on you for voting against a strong Violence Against Women Act. We'll
remember your vote."

Dear Friend,
Victory! The House has finally passed the Senate version of the Violence
Against Women Act, by a vote of 286 to 138 —
with all 138 votes against the bill coming from Republicans.
Now we need to make it clear to those Republicans that their continued stance
against this domestic violence prevention bill
— even after it was clearly going to pass — is wrong and shameful.
Tell the 138 Republicans
who voted against passing the Violence Against Women Act: Shame on you for
voting against protections for victims of domestic
abuse and for continuing to play politics with women's lives. Click here to

In the 2012 election, CREDO SuperPAC helped defeat five Tea Party Republicans
in the House, educating voters about their
opposition to the Violence Against Women Act and holding vigils at their
offices with domestic violence survivors.
And in the last couple of months, 318,473 CREDO Action members signed petitions
to the House, asking for a vote on VAWA.
In our final push, over 1,500 calls were made to the 212 Republican men who
were threatening to block the bill. In the end,
only 138 Republicans in the House voted against the bill.
This incredible victory was made possible by that activism. But there's still
work to do. We need to put those 138 Republicans
on notice that we will continue to fight back against the Republican War on
Women.

Because of your pressure, many of the Republicans in the House were forced to
cave as continued opposition to the bill became
a politically untenable position. But it was reprehensible that these 138
Republicans still voted against VAWA, an incredibly
popular, successful, and (until now) bipartisan bill that has reduced domestic
violence rates by 58% since it was first passed
in 1994.
The last time this program was reauthorized, it passed nearly unanimously
through both the House and the Senate.
But the political climate in Washington, DC is much different now than it was
just a few years ago, and Republicans are voting
in lockstep with the Tea Party instead of standing up for their constituents on
key bills like the Violence Against Women
Act.
Still, it's astonishing that after an incredible backlash from appalled
constituents and even other Republicans, that these
lawmakers maintained their hard stance against domestic violence protections.
Now they need to know we are going to hold them accountable for their shameful
vote.
Tell the 138 Republicans who voted against passing the Violence Against Women
Act: Americans will not forget that you
stood up against domestic violence protections. We will hold you accountable

Thank you for standing up for women.
