AVN.- Communication channels established to improve the relationship with the United States have been temporarily suspended after the attacks of Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta Jacobson, against Venezuela's Electoral Power, informed Wednesday Foreign Affairs minister Elias Jaua. "I hope there will be a correction and the United States meddling ceases," added the Minister, recalling that the commissioner to keep the communication channel with Mrs. Jacobson was Venezuela's ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Roy Chaderton Matos. Nevertheless, the Venezuelan foreign minister explained that "all diplomatic and consular relationships continue," and he detailed that only a channel agreed with Jacobson last November has been suspended. Elias Jaua reaffirmed that the only transition in Venezuela is towards socialism, which has been fostered by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez. "In Venezuela, there is not other transition than the transition to socialism," said Jaua in a ceremony to decorate Venezuelan diplomats Victor Camacaro Mata and Orlando Montañez Olivares, who were expelled from the United States as retaliation against the country for having removed two US embassy attaches from office. The Foreign Minister rejected Roberta Jacobson's statements against Venezuela's electoral system and emphasized that elections have already been called as established in the Bolivarian Constitution. In this connection, he said that the White House bets on a scenario of instability in the country, but the Bolivarian Government will guarantee peace. As a matter of fact, Jaua said that evidence of Washington's meddling in Venezuela's politics was the recent visit of rightist presidential candidate Henrique Capriles to New York city, US.
