We Don't Need a Pro-Fracking Energy Secretary
Tell Congress to reject Ernest Moniz
Whose side is Ernest Moniz on?
Tell Congress you don't want an Energy Secretary who supports fracking
Dear Romi,

So much for President Obama's commitment to clean energy.

Obama has nominated Ernest Moniz, a known supporter of fracking, as his next
Energy Secretary. We already knew that Moniz has done industry-funded research
that showed the supposed "benefits" of fracking. But now, we're discovering
that Moniz's ties to the oil and gas industry run even deeper than that. Let
your members of Congress know: Moniz is clearly the wrong choice for Energy
Secretary.

There are ample reasons why Moniz could have a conflict of interest if his
appointment is confirmed:
        * He received a stipend to sit on BP's Technology Advisory Council from
2005 to 2011, advising the company on their approach to research and technology.
        * He is on the board of ICF International, an energy consulting company
that has a long relationship with the Department of Energy.
        * He has served on the board or otherwise advised numerous groups with
ties to the oil and gas industry, including the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies
and Research Center, the Electric Power Research Institute, and more.

As Energy Secretary, Ernest Moniz would be in a position to help decide
America's energy future. We need a leader who will push for renewable fuels,
not more reliance on so-called "bridge fuels" like natural gas. But Moniz has
made it clear that he supports fracking, and would take steps to make it easier
for fracked gas to be sold overseas, increasing the demand for fracking here at
home. Send a strong message telling Congress that Moniz is the wrong choice.

Urge your members of Congress to reject Ernest Moniz for Energy Secretary:
