Today Sunday April 14, are being held new presidential elections in
Venezuela. Following the unfortunate passing of our dear friend and
revolutionary giant Hugo Chávez, today the working class and the
revolutionary people of Venezuela must fight back in a strong electoral
battle against the forces of the reactionary oligarchy and imperialism.

Once again, the eyes of millions of workers, youth, peasants, unemployed
and poor throughout the world, eagerly await a new victory for the
Bolivarian revolution against capitalist counterrevolution and imperialist.

>From the Hands Off Venezuela, have defended for over ten years
internationally Bolivarian Revolution, against the attacks of corporate
communication at the service of the great transnational capital, who have
unleashed as never before during the last decade, a campaign vicious lies
and discredit Venezuela, seeking to isolate the Bolivarian Revolution of
workers around the world, and also, we have an uphill political battle in
each of the countries where it operates the Campaign to counter attacks
from various bourgeois governments and political organizations, is working
against Venezuela.

With the disappearance of Commander Chavez, the Hands Off Venezuela
Campaign, has taken another step forward, to deepen the international
defense of the Bolivarian Revolution. Proof of this are the numerous acts
of solidarity that the campaign has done in various places around the
world. From Brussels to the Basque Country, in Minneapolis to Berlin,
Mexico City to Vienna, have mobilized all young comrades, workers, union
leaders and leftist activists who make up the campaign to defend the
Bolivarian Revolution in this new phase.

Today, before this battle between you, our brothers and sisters Venezuela
class, we take a new step forward to defend the revolution. Therefore,
since the Hands Off Venezuela Campaign, we have prepared this statement to
tell you, our comrades of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela: The new
challenge today April 14 before them, not just a struggle yourselves, it is
a struggle of the world working class against imperialism, a struggle of
socialism against capitalism, that you fight for all the poor and oppressed
of the world. As we said, millions of workers around the world are pinning
their hopes on you comrades. It is absolutely necessary to give a new sound
defeat the oligarchy and imperialism, to continue deepening the socialist
revolution in Venezuela and Latin America, holding high the banner of
revolutionary struggle for socialism, to the world.

To give a concrete example of the continuing importance of the Bolivarian
Revolution in the eyes of the world's oppressed, I will quote part of an
answer I gave in an interview I did the newspaper El Universal two weeks
ago and were built in Venezuela delivered 350,000 houses in the last two
years, while in Spain over the same period 350,000 families lost their
homes through eviction for not paying the mortgage. In Spain there are now
six million unemployed, including 58% of young people, while in Venezuela,
unemployment fell from 18% to 8% during the presidency of Commander Chávez. It
is obvious, then, how the workers and oppressed of Spain and the rest of
the world, come to Venezuela a path, a reference to the struggle to end
oppression in which they live.

Therefore, comrades in Venezuela, from the Hands Off Venezuela, and on
behalf of all national sections that make up the Campaign across five
continents, we call all the revolutionary people of Venezuela to mobilize
massively today, to defend the Bolivarian Revolution in this new battle
against the forces of reaction and also to show the world once again today,
despite what they say every hour media communication bourgeois world,
Venezuela is the most democratic country in the world.

No employee or worker must stay today at home. Fellow worker, fellow
workers, mobilizing all the comrades that laboras factory, the company that
laboras, your union. No worker should stay home Bolivarian exercising their
right to vote. The Venezuelan working class, the vanguard of this
revolution, should give a new example of which is the height of this great
historic compromise.

Young student, you too, should be an example of cutting edge and
revolutionary commitment. Unemployed youth and students from Spain, from
Arab countries, from Africa, have their hopes for you. You housewife,
working woman, working woman, you can not miss this great undertaking.

Well, fellow workers, students, peasants and indigenous, the poor of the
world have great faith in the work that you performed today. The eyes of
the world are upon you. Again, from the Hands Off Venezuela Campaign call
them massively mobilized to defend their votes to the Bolivarian
Revolution, and to defend well, the revolutionary legacy of Commander
Chávez.

The mass mobilization and awareness of the revolutionary people, to
exercise their right to vote today and to defend it against the sabotage of
the oligarchy, it is essential to give the next battle: complete the
socialist revolution in Venezuela with the expropriation of the
oligarchy . Comrades,
the revolution's future depends on you.

*Long live the Bolivarian Revolution!*

*Long live the working class and the revolutionary people of Venezuela!*

*Chavez lives, the struggle continues!*

Alan Woods, founder and Jorge Martin, international secretary
