One of the few decent channels on TV is ANIMAL PLANET, and one of their best programs is "River Monsters" with fish biologist Jeremy Wade. I actually don't care much for fish, but the program is so interesting and so educational that I watch it whenever it comes on, and last night I sat through several hours of it.
One of the shows last night was about Wade getting permission from the Russian authorities to fish in the cooling ponds of the devastated Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Evidently, a diver was attacked by a fish there several years ago, and there was speculation that there may have been some kind of mutation. I won't spoil the story for you by telling you what happens and what Wade finds out about the fish, but you might decide the show is worth your time. It is one of the few descriptions I have heard on the MSM (mainstream media) of Chernobyl and the effects of radiation, etc. and has some good footage showing the abandoned plant and town of Pripyat now. So, "consult your local listings."
