PLEASE join with us in stopping Keystone!

Dear H,

Help us reach 1 million comments and stop the Keystone XL -- submit yours
today!
There are only five more days to comment on the State Department’s draft
environmental impact statement on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. We’re
working furiously with our partners to make sure that we get over 1 million
comments against the pipeline by the April 22 deadline.
Right now we have over 800,000 comments. Please add your name to this list now
and tell President Obama to reject this dirty, dangerous pipeline once and for
all.
To put it bluntly, the State Department’s report isn’t worth the paper it is
printed on. It ignores the pipeline's significant risk for toxic spills, like
the one a few weeks ago in Arkansas. It ignores the catastrophic impacts on our
climate. And it falsely claims that Canadian tar sands will be exploited even
if Keystone XL isn’t built, ignoring the clear consensus among financial
analysts that Keystone XL is essential for expanded exploitation of tar sands
oil. If it sounds like this report was written by Big Oil, that’s because it
was.
It turns out that the State Department based its conclusions on work by two
firms who list the Koch Brothers, BP and the American Petroleum Institute as
their clients. That’s right -- our tax dollars paid contractors with close ties
to Big Oil to help write this critical environmental impact report.
To make matters worse, we now find out that the State Department was involved
in a cover-up to hide those connections and conceal the millions that
TransCanada has spent on lobbyists close to the Obama administration.
Please submit your public comment right now and tell President Obama that oil
industry contractors must not be driving U.S. climate and energy policy.
We know that we’re up against some of the most powerful corporations on the
planet. But together I know we’ll ultimately prevail.
Thanks for all you do,
Ross Hammond,
