Israel celebrates "the achievements" of the Syrian army (and by extension
of Hezbullah) in Qusayr ! the Syrian regime celebrates the Israeli opinion!

In the meantime, Syrians and Palestinians are struggling together against
that two-headed monster: dictatorship and colonization.

The rebels withdrew from Al-Qusayr in exchange of the lift of the siege off
the district and the evacuation of civilians and injured people.

Rebel withdrawal from Al-Qusayr
result of deal with Hezbollah

A well-informed source said that the withdrawal of Syrian rebels from
Al-Qusayr came as a result of an agreement between the rebels and Hezbollah
brokered by Lebanese centrist political leaders Progressive Socialist Party
leader MP Walid Jumblatt and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

“The rebels withdrew from Al-Qusayr in exchange for lifting the siege off
of the district and the evacuation of civilians and injured people,” the
source told NOW.

Another source said that Jumblatt did not communicate directly with the
Syrian regime but rather with Hezbollah through the Shiite party's top top
security chief Wafiq Safa.

“Jumblatt expressed the [willingness] of the Syrian opposition to withdraw
its rebels from Al-Qusayr on the condition that they be [allowed] to
evacuate families and wounded people without being attacked,” the source
told NOW.

After taking the approval of the Syrian regime, Safa informed Jumblatt that
“the passages are now safe and known for those who wish to take them,” the
source added.

Meanwhile, a PSP source told our website that the party and its leader “do
not work in order to gain media fame, and every effort deployed in this
field must be kept secret in order to keep negotiation channels open in
case they are needed again.”

Another source also told NOW that “Berri worked through his [connections]
to complete the deal fearing fatal repercussions on Lebanon in the event
that the battle of Al-Qusayr was resolved militarily.”

A source close to Berri also noted that the parliament’s speaker was “keen
to avoid a massacre in Al-Qusayr, which could have a negative influence on
the already tense situation in Lebanon.”

Meanwhile, Alaa al-Basha of the Supreme Military Council of the
Free Syrian Army said that the rebels withdrew “due to lack of ammunition
and weapons.”

He also told NOW that the withdrawal aimed at protecting civilians.

“We have called on all humanitarian councils and on the Red Crescent to
open a safe road to transfer the injured,” he said.

On Wednesday, Syria's rebels conceded they had lost the battle for the
strategic town of Al-Qusayr, after the army claimed it had seized total
control of it and the surrounding region.

*Opposition National Coalition Warns of Regime Reprisals After Loss of
Qusayr, Calls for Action Over Chemical Weapons*

The opposition Syrian National Coalition has issued a
statement<http://www.etilaf.org/en/newsroom/press-release/item/483-the-latest-developments-in-qusair.html>
on
the loss of Qusayr despite "heroic battles...fought by the Free Syrian Army
to defend civilians".

The Coalition warned, "Grisly massacres will occur with reprisals against
innocent civilians if the international community stands idle and watches,"
while "hold[ing] the Assad regime to its commitment to allow humanitarian
access to provide urgent relief to the citizens of Qusayr".

The Coalition is also promoting the finding of France that the Syrian
regime has used sarin nerve agent to call for an emergency meeting of the
United Nations Security Council:

[We ask] for practical action on the ground, as condemnatory statements are
not enough to change a tragic situation and to save lives. The
circumstances in Syria demand international action to cripple the regime's
capability of murdering civilians and to provide the Free Syrian Army with
quality weapons to enable them to protect civilians and put an end to the
Assad regime.

*Insurgent Withdrawal from Qusayr*

Reuters, citing an "opposition group" from Qusayr, said more than 500
insurgents
died<http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/06/05/uk-syria-crisis-idUKBRE9530VB20130605>
in
the three weeks of the regime assault, with a further 1,000 wounded,
leaving just 400 outgunned men struggling to hold onto the town.

Survivors decided to escape in the night through a corridor that regime
attackers said they had deliberately left open to encourage flight.

Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem
said<https://now.mmedia.me/lb/en/lebanonnews/hezbollah-official-al-qusayrs-fall-an-accomplishment>,
“The Al-Qusayr accomplishment is a severe blow to the project of the
American-Israeli-Takfiri [infidel] trio and a glowing point for the project
of the resistance in Syria.

Qassem continued, “Today, it has been proven that betting on the fall of
the resisting Syrian [regime] is an illusion....Building political stances
on the accomplishments of the American-Israeli project is unsuccessful.”

*No Progress Towards International "Peace" Conference*

Wednesday's meeting between US, Russian, and United Nations officials has
made little progress towards the staging of a proposed international
"peace" conference. Moscow has cast
blame<http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/06/05/us-syria-crisis-conference-russia-idUSBRE9540UJ20130605>
on
the insurgency, which has demanded that President Assad step aside during a
transitional government:

**

*The most difficult question is the circle of participants in the
conference. The whole issue is that the Syrian opposition, unlike the
government, has not made a fundamental decision about its participation in
this conference.

*

*No Aid for Civilians In Qusayr Yet*

A spokesman for the Red Cross has said it has not been granted
access<http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/middle-east-live/2013/jun/05/syria-assad-retakes-qusair-live#block-51af4711e4b0ae18e994afc0>
to
the residents of Qusayr, the besieged town which fell to regime forces
today:

**

*We've seen the reports that some parts of the town have been deserted but
we're not in a position to verify that. Nor can we give any concrete info
on numbers killed, wounded, or remaining in Qusair. We're still in dialogue
with the Syrian authorities on reaching Qusair, particularly with a view to
getting in medical supplies.

*The Withdrawal from Qusayr*

Alaa al-Basha, a member of the Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council,
has said that insurgents withdrew from
Qusayr<https://now.mmedia.me/lb/en/nowsyrialatestnews/syria-rebels-say-they-have-lost-battle-for-qusayr1>
“due
to a lack of ammunitions and weapons".

Al-Basha also said that the withdrawal sought to protect civilians: “We
have called on all humanitarian councils and on the Red Crescent to open a
safe road to transfer the injured."
