The soft sided ones are much lighter and nicer to travel with. As long as your dog has good crate behavior. I'm not 100 percent sure I would leave a dog unattended in one (say in a hotel room while I was at dinner) because I do think if a dog was anxious or nervous they could tear their way out.

Subject: [labradoodles] Mattie, just over 3 months old
Hi. I just posted a pic of Mattie in the photos. She is almost 4 months. I do need collapsible crate advice. We will be traveling with her over the holidays. Does anyone has the soft-sided one? It is lighter wt than the collapsible metal crates. Thanks.
