Hi Mike,
Our F1 labradoodles consists of the mom being the lab, dad, the standard
poodle. It can be the other way around also. It really doesn't change the
quality of the coats. Their coats are wavy and once in awhile you might get a
little more wavy coat. These are also called the first generation (first cross
between the lab and the poodle) they can shed some, but not as much as a lab
does. They are very smart and anxious to learn and love being around you and
family. The F1B's, we take a labradoodle and back-bred to a poodle. We have
female poodles and male labradoodles, or vice versa. It does not matter because
the litters are the same.
The F1B's are the ones we recommend for the sufferers of asthma, or allergy
concerns. They do not shed like that of the first generation because their are
wavier, curlier coats. They are a little smaller in wgt range (45-75lbs) where
the F1's are larger in range (45-90lbs). They have the same personalities as the
F1's, only a little more cautious at first. We give a puppy aptitude test on
each puppy to help buyers in their selections, and it seems to help.
If you have more questions, please e-mail us or call our toll-free number.
Thank you for your inquiry and hope to talk with you again soon.

                                              Sincerely,
                                              LEE & PAUL BUCCILLI

Subject: [labradoodles] Who's your daddy?
Date: Thu, 09 Jun 2005 14:51:46 -0000

We don't currently have a doodle, but are starting to look, having
(finally, perhaps) recovered from the loss of our dog just before
Christmas '03.
I've been doing lots of reading about F1's, F1B's, coats, etc, etc.
and I have a couple (perhaps basic or obvious) questions that I've not
really seen the answers to.
To start - is there a 'standard' for which of the parents is which
breed? I guess I know which would be which for mini's (since I've
never heard of a miniature labrador) but do you get different
qualities depending on which breed is mom?? Do the coat
characteristics change? Is there a way to predict (even vaguely)
which characteristics (e.g. blockhead) will come through in the pups?
Any other thoughts or ideas??

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Mike in Oregon - currently working on insuring the integrity of our
dog management system (fencing) prior to actually looking for a pup.
