Hi,
Just a question to throw out to the masses.
I want to stress, I am not, I repeat, not, ready to do this, not for quite some
time, maybe 3 or 4 years down the road, but I'm just throwing the idea out to
see how it flies right now.
I have had 6 guide dogs, various breeds. Very often, you don't get a choice of
what kind of a dog you get.
When I retire my current dog, I'd like a Labradoodle assistance dog. I
wouldn't be using it in a heavy-duty way like normal guide dog users would. I
would want a dog that could get me from point A to point B (the car to my front
door, the front door to the house next door) but no street crossings. I would
want the dog to find things "find the chair" "find the car" and the usual come,
sit stay stuff.
Fetch would be cool. An added plus would be one to alert me to doorbells or
when cars drive in.
I would rather have an independently trained dog than to go through the whole
guide dog school routine.
A. Would anyone on this list be interested in taking on such a project?
B. If you did, how much would you charge? I know, the economy can change, but
a ball park figure would be great so I could start saving.
C. Do you know of anyone who might want to help? Pass my name on if you do.
I know, I'm jumpng the gun for something that's way down the road, but I'm
daydreaming.
Thanks.
I'd either like a standard poodle or a labradoodle.
