Hey Barb, Your gal is adorable!! :) She looks soooo sweet :)
Part of why I chose a Labradoodle and I had no idea it would turn out to be this popular!!! Was I wanted a dog that would pull people to me not push people away. Trying to keep people from petting him would be impossible! So I just trained Andy to be good about it. Because I became agoraphobic I became more introverted especially in public places and especially with strangers I thought it would be therapeutic for me to be drawn back into talking to people. With my first Service Dog, while he was cute people kept asking about my health issues, about my disabilities, etc. This was making things worse for me :(. Now they could care less about me :), they want to know all about Andy!! Then they want to know all about Labradoodles!! If I go to a new place I have to allow for twice the time to shop as I am stopped that often. Even in my regular haunts I am stopped at least once or twice. I had this stranger come up to me and he asked what Andy was because he said another stranger came up to him and asked what type of dog Andy was! Isn't that funny :) I had one lady in a department store start jumping up and down, clapping her hands, shrieking "My first Labradoodle, oh my goodness, my very first Labradoodle!" While I was a bit embarrassed it was kinda funny and her enthusiasm made me smile! Andy and his fans make me smile all the time :) On his more serious side he actually alerts to my fatigue, I have Fibromyalgia, and I know when to call it quits and wind things up. He braces me when my legs seize and he helps me balance when the fatigue gets bad. He also helps keep people at bay (in a very nice way that they don't realize) when they smell too strong. Strong odors can trigger attacks. He is also trained to pick up things for me when I drop them, like my keys. A real favorite thing when I go to schools and give talks to the kids! He is wonderful :) I look healthy on the outside so people don't always realize he is for me, but the few who have seen him work when the fatigue hits me and leaves me crippled are amazed at him! He is a true ambassador for his breed and a Service Dog :) Shari At 06:30 PM 1/6/2006 -0500, you wrote: >In a message dated 1/6/2006 2:38:18 PM Pacific Standard Time, >[EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: >>Hi Barb >> >>Welcome to the group!
