Personnally I love the boys but I only have one at a time in my home. I think females in general are smarter or use their smarts more than the boys do. I temperament test and the difference in the boys and girls is huge.
The males do not offer up new or investigative behaviors like their female siblings. The reasons I like males are not reasons to make a good service dog. That said, I would look at the individual puppy over sex. Sex to me is an emotional factor more than a working issue.
