I'm hoping someone has had some experience with this and can give me advice. We took Tycho on Friday to be neutered at our vet's office. Over the weekend things seemed to be going along okay, but we were having trouble with the no-chew collar not being large enough and he got at the incision site a few times. Things weren't looking great (strange yellowish color to the skin and the stitches were pulling slightly apart and swelling) so we took him back on Monday. He has an infection and is now on antibiotics. The poor guy is going through quite an ordeal. Now after 24 hours on antibiotics the swelling is mostly gone, but there is discharge around the incision. I'm thinking the new larger collar is finally preventing him from "cleaning" the area, but I'm not sure. Tomorrow we're back to the vet for another check, and hoping they think it looks okay:( Anyone else been through this? At least he doesn't mind taking his pills. I've had dogs that would spit them out no matter how well hidden and I've massaged many a pill down an unwilling throat over the years. So I was shocked when he chewed them right up. That dog will eat anything lol.
