I have a male named Shaggy and he is very sweet and just such a loveable and sweet dog and is so great with the children. I call him "sweet boy" all the time and kiss his snout. Initially, because we had a black lab that was female who was the best dog in the world, I wanted to get a female again. It was my husband who wanted to get a male. I can only tell you that we were lucky enough to get two great dogs, one male and one female. No dog will be well behaved without exercise, discipline and affection and not letting them be dominant over you. Good luck!
