I've tried to Kirkland cat food for the same reason. A comparative analysis 
shows it's a high quality food. Unfortunately my cats hated it, lol. Even mixed 
with Royal Canin Sensible Choice didn't help. They picked out the Sensible 
Choice and left the Kirkland. 
 
I use Candidae for my Sheltie. The best part is the cats don't like it, so they 
are not munching on the dog's food, lol.
