Assuming you are talking about Memcached, it was announced on http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/labs-l/2013-July/001413.html (July 16), and Aug 8th was finalized on http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/labs-l/2013-July/001430.html (July 19), so I guess that's enough time.
