cache a connection per cluster (s1, s2, etc) and then reuse when you need that cluster again. obviously that's most important for s3. (more DBs than any other) there's a DB with a table that maps all DBs to clusters. or use the dblists in the operations/mediawiki-config gerrit repo. -Jeremy
