Hi Tom (sorry for calling you "Tim" :) ),

I left the default schema blank and all other settings stayed the same.
As I had no idea for any reason that could have caused this behaviour, I
re-installed MySQL Workbench -- and it works now. Whatever the reason
for the problem was, it seems to be gone.
