How come I never see any discussion of development? Any indication of progress? Any commit messages?
Now with my "own" lab I find myself instinctively applying a similar level of quality control as I would when contributing to a project. With any number of people potentially looking at your code, at least I have a strong drive to dot all the i's (make sure it compiles, tests, has proper comments, etc.) before committing anything. This is IMHO a good thing for established projects, but probably holds people back when working on a lab. I just committed my current code drafts for Juuso in a concious effort to lower the "commit bar" and I would recommed other PIs to do the same.
