I totally agree that droids should be able to function without the DI framework.

The one bit that I am not sure about is:

I'm not sure how the cocoon configurator works...  if we wanted to make sure 
the map is ConcurrentHashMap<K, V> there would be no way to check if it is 
initialized yet.
