Hi Simo, first of all I also've been very touched by that movie. Regarding your proposal I think that is very interesting! Since I am quite new to Labs I'm not sure if possible matchings/links to already existing Apache projects should be highlighted however I think the Apache Mahout team (as they implement various recommenders/classifications algorithms) could be interested.
