Valda,

I have to agree - I was as strict with my children when they were little, as
my parents and my husband's parents were with us, and our grandchildren are
now being taught to behave properly too. There is nothing worse, or more
calculated to aggravate, than undisciplined children running round
disturbing others - and sometimes parents and relations forget that what is
"cute" at four years of age, can be revoltingly naughty at ten years - or
even older!

Another thing which tends to irritate me is when children interrupt when
their parents are talking - we were taught, and we taught our children, to
wait until a conversation came to a 'natural break' - even then, we weren't
allowed to intrude, but to say "Excuse me, but......." It is not the
children's fault that they are undisciplined, but it doesn't make one like
the child any better, when it is the parents fault for the lack of
discipline!

Carol - in a warm and sunny - but quite windy - East Anglia.
