I don't want to see porn on the web, nor would I want my child (under 16 anyway) to see porn on the web. I doubt my child (now 26) would want to see porn on the web -- he's one of those who complain that some of my joke forwards are too gross. So we'd be suited by such a library ban ('cepting neither of us uses library for 'puter access), *as long* as it was possible to turn the filter off, and my no-good neighbour could watch the titties mingle till the cows came home *if he so wished*...
Trouble with web-porn is that it tends to jump at you and catch you unawares, whether you want to see it or not (like a smoker who sidles up to you reeking... You know? <g>) So a filter is good, *if* it can be turned off on request. Oh, you're 85, and have to go to the librarian and *ask* for it to be turned off, and everyone in your Litle Piddleton will *know* you like to drool over dirty pitchers??? Tough titty; it's still better than having 20 6yr olds "caught" unwittingly... IMO.
and then there's 'free' speech :

In the article, someone compares them to "Flat-Earth Society". Very apt; I wouldn't exercise myself over it unduly
