Mmm... Makes me wonder... There's a statistical corelation between the rich/industrial countries and the fertility "effectiveness" in males. In -- I think -- Finland, they're already beginning to tie it to the food people eat (rather than the general stress, etc), though not to any *particular* food. As yet :)
Since, traditionally, meat has been a luxury, the better off a person is, the more meat he/she is likely to consume. Multiply it by a richer *society*... So, perhaps, the same dioxins that are bad for pregnant and breast feeding women and their infants, are bad for men also, if in a different way? Perhaps *they* are the culprit which "eats away"" the potency of their seed? If so, then we can look to our government doing its utmost to clean up the *real problem* and get us back to the amount that can be found in nature only; can't keep women's bellies filled with babies, if men are shooting blanks... <g>
But, as the "advice" stands now, I agree, it *is* something to lose one's cool over; it's just a modernised version of the old "wisdom" I grew up with: "if there's only enough meat for one, then the man gets it, because he works the hardest and deserves it the most. Next in line are the children, because they're growing. Women can do without"
Another aspect of that piece of "advice": if our economy continues to plummet, many families may have to go back to the old "meat enough only for one" status. In which case, we'll have, already in place, excellent (health) reasons to exclude the women and the girl children from sharing a piece of it :)
