Speaking of Daniel Day-Lewis, I just watched "The Gangs of New York" last night, and he did a masterful job playing the bad guy. Leonardo DiCaprio also did a good job. The nice thing about this movie (speaking of accents) is that although the gangs included "fresh-off-the-boat" Irish and African Americans, and "natives" (the "we were here first" group), Scorsase did not feel the need to focus on accents. There were some characters who had accents - probably natural - but most of the time I was unaware of them (so either they were very good or not there at all!)
The film was filled with violence - but not gratuitous violence (or I would have been "outta there"). I really felt like I could almost smell the scenes - the filth and poverty were well depicted. This certainly isn't a "feel good" film, but very well done and worth seeing, especially now that it's available to rent. Clay > Hi All, I haven't seen mention of Daniel Day-Lewis in "Last of the > Mohicans" yet. Yum!
