Jean, these are marvellous! I've just read through the titles and can answer some of the questions for the gardener wannabe. In order to attract the "pleasing Japanese beetles, just plant Sterling Silver roses -- they seem to thrive on them, and make the blooms look like less that what they're supposed to, and more like swiss cheese. The strawberries are an excellent way to attract slugs, who seem to have had little regard for the fact that I planted the strawberries for me and not for them. I won by using slug killer granules, though I've learnt since then that taking a small empty cat food tin and filling it with beer will do the same thing. Perhaps this is included in a chapter of the book about growing beer...?
