I have a travel pillow which has traveled many miles with me on holiday. I made a bigger half round mat to sit against the roller which helps support more bobbins and so you can make a wider piece of lace. If you extend the half circle around the roller you can push the bobbins back behind the work. I made my extension from cotton fabric ( double ) with thin wadding in between the layers and then quilted it, this makes it more rigid but still soft enough to fold inside the pillow.
