Yesterday MIL (advanced Alzheimers and 80 years old but thinks she's 40)
went into a residential home as FIL (84) has finally agreed that he just
can't cope with her any more. They'll both have a better quality of life
now.

Apart from the inevitable squabbles with FIl a miser and control freak not
wanting to hand financial control over to DH and SIL who have Enduring Power
of Attorney over MIL financial affairs, and DH being the oldest wanting to
have the last say but SIL (an acccountant) insisting she knows best - I'm so
glad I'm only an onlooker - I thought the last statement by MIL before they
left her was hilarious.

MIL to DH "You're not my husband are you?"
DH "No. Don't yu know who I am?"
MIL "I know I know you. You work with me."
DH "No I don't, but you do know mw."
MIL looks puzzled.
SIL "How many children did you have?"
MIL "2"
SIL "Who are they?"
MIL "Veronica and Billy."
SIL "Do you know who I am?"
MIL "You're Veronica, I think. No you're not. Yes, you're Veronica."
SIL "That's Billy."
MIL looks at DH "But you're old!"

Really cheered him up.
