Actually, we usually assume 2.5 hours for a Birmingham to London trip - but that is taking into account that London for Brummies starts at the end of the M40 - I think it is measured something like 112 miles - and doesn't account for anyone trying to get to the other side! Tamworth to London (straight down the A5) we do in about 3 hours, but it is usually far simpler, and quicker, to get the train! On one memorable occasion about 25 years ago (memorable for the whatsit of a migraine I went down with mid party!), a friend dragged me off to his sister's party (giving me about ten minutes notice that we were going, and I would need overnight stuff) - he picked me up from my flat in Moseley, on the south side of Birmingham, and we were in Ealing *one hour and five minutes* later! Needless to say, he was well and truly breaking the speed limit, and this was outside rush hour. -- Jane Partridge To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace-chat [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
