I rather like 'collectibies' - thank you Margot. They are what I have, in
quantity, amongst my Stuff.

and I would like to add:
a 'hood' is a word from my youth, meant a thug, or street rowdy, from
'hoodlum' - derived from Germanic/Bavarian slang (Gage reference)
"Hodalum"

Here a 'hoodie' is a fleece shirt with a hood attached - my now-ancient
kids refer to the young
wearers as 'punklings.'

I have a paperback called The Story of the English Language.
It is out of date ;_
